RIVERS: Big Shoals State Park

Only in Florida would these river rapids be considered exciting, but hey, let's enjoy what we've got! Page 1.

Big Shoals State Park offers Class III whitewater rapids when the Suwannee River is between 59 and 61 feet above sea level.

Given that these conditions don't always exist, it could be wise to contact the park before your visit to understand what the current situation is. You can phone the park at: 386-397-4331 The park's Facebook page is here. You can download a park brochure and map here.

This state park is just outside of White Springs in north central Florida. The Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park can also be easily accessed from White Springs.

The park provides 28 miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing.
